The Blackwing Matte is the softest of the four core Blackwing models — designed for artists, illustrators, musicians, woodworkers, and anyone who wants dark, expressive lines with minimal pressure. It's the original Blackwing formulation, once known as the "Blackwing Palomino."

Made with California incense-cedar and premium Japanese graphite, the Matte features a soft core that's perfect for sketching, shading, and drawing. The timeless matte black finish, iconic square ferrule, and replaceable black eraser make it as beautiful as it is functional. If the 602 is for writers, the Matte is for creators.
