The Penco Brush Writer is a collaboration between Penco's playful Americana aesthetic and a long-established Japanese brush maker. It's a traditional fude-style brush pen — the kind used for calligraphy and illustration — reimagined with a modern, brightly coloured body that feels more like a marker than a fine art tool.
The soft brush tip moves between delicate fine lines and bold, saturated colour depending on pressure. Water-based dye ink means you can layer and blend colours for gradients and washes. It's versatile enough for writing, marking, drawing, colouring, hand lettering, or sketching — all in one compact pen. Made in Japan with proper brush-making expertise, but designed for everyday creative work rather than formal calligraphy.

Amazing!!!!! there is nothing like this store in Hamilton or even Auckland, speciality stationery and so much of it is Japanese, my fav! Very cute store. Penco, Midori, Supreme, Moleskine, etc. inside an old fashioned arcade, easy enough to find.

Tom stocks some of the best quality and designed stationary products you can find in New Zealand. His customer service is also top draw and excellent.
