The original sticky tape. Biodegradable cellulose film, tears by hand, New Zealand's number one tape.
Why This Exists
Sellotape has been the household name for sticky tape since 1937, when Colin Kininmonth and George Gray invented it in West London. The name comes from "Cellophane" with the C changed to S so it could be trademarked. During World War II, it was used to seal ammunition boxes and protect windowpanes from bomb damage. Today, it's the leading tape brand in the UK and New Zealand's number one selling stationery tape.
The 1100 is made from cellulose film — a wood-based, biodegradable material — coated with a rubber adhesive. It's strong enough for everyday sealing, joining, and mending tasks, but tears cleanly by hand when you need it. Clear, static-free, and environmentally friendlier than plastic film tapes. A brand so iconic it has its own entry in the Oxford English Dictionary.
What Makes It Good
- Biodegradable cellulose film — wood-based, decomposes naturally, environmentally friendlier than plastic
- Tears by hand — no scissors needed, clean tear every time
- Clear film — won't obscure graphics or text
- Static-free — doesn't curl or twist in use
- Rubber adhesive — strong bond for light to medium-duty applications
- Moisture-resistant — reliable performance in normal conditions
- 33m length — generous roll for extended use
Who This Is For
